OAK BLUFFS — Sengekontacket Pond has been closed to shellfishing until further notice, the town announced, with state officials needing to test water quality before harvesting can resume.

The town's News Flash system announced Friday morning that Sengekontacket Pond is closed to shellfishing until further notice. According to the notice, the Division of Marine Fisheries must test the water quality before the pond can reopen to harvesters. No timeline for reopening was given.
